Wet weather plan at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc

Better than most Riviera venues, and it costs you very little.

In the under-100 format the rain plan is already the plan. Dinner and dancing sit in the Îles de Lérins ballroom regardless of weather, so rain only moves the ceremony. The Eden-Roc Lounge is the exposed piece, and the ballroom and its terrace absorb it without anyone eating dinner somewhere they did not expect to.

A buyout has more exposure, because the appeal is the Grande Allée and the pool deck, both open. The Glasshouse is the answer at scale, at up to 600, and it is covered. The ballroom handles anything up to 200.

The autumn window is the one to plan around. From mid-September into October the afternoons still warm up, but the evenings on the Cap turn damp and cold, and the Eden-Roc Lounge sits high and open with nothing between it and the sea. Plan for the drop once the sun is down: patio heaters, wraps for guests, or moving into the Îles de Lérins ballroom a little earlier than you would elsewhere.

Imposed suppliers at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc

Every event here is run by the hotel's in-house team. Catering and beverage are theirs and not open to an outside caterer, which is the one budget line you cannot put out to competition. Floristry is in-house too, with top floral designers brought in for larger productions, and the remaining suppliers come from a selected-partners list the hotel keeps.

None of this is unusual for the planners who work this coast. At this level a curated vendor list is the norm, not a restriction, and the good Riviera planners already know the hotel's team and its partners well. The one practical point for your budget is narrow: food and beverage is a fixed in-house quote, so build around it rather than expecting to shop it.

Getting to Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc

Nice Côte d'Azur airport is the arrival point, about 40 minutes by car, confirmed by the hotel. It takes direct flights from most of Europe and seasonal long-haul from the US, which is why the Riviera works for a guest list flying in from several countries at once.

There is no shared hotel shuttle. Private transfers are arranged through the concierge, and for a wedding that is the sensible route: a group arriving across a single afternoon is a logistics job, not a taxi rank.

The address is 167-165 Boulevard J. F. Kennedy, Antibes, at the end of the Cap. Cannes is around 20 minutes west and Monaco around 45 minutes east, both useful for guests building a longer trip around your date.

The practical read: without a buyout you are working with the Eden-Roc Lounge and the ballroom, and 100 is a hard ceiling. With one, the property scales past 400 and the constraint becomes budget rather than space.

The Glasshouse, up to 600. The largest space on the property and the least known. It works as a kids club, paddle court and yoga studio in high season, then converts for large events, which is part of why it is available in exactly the months the hotel takes weddings.

What we noticed shooting at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc

The wedding dates set your light, and it pays to plan the evening around them.

Weddings fall in April or from mid-September to mid-October, and the sun sets at noticeably different times across that spread: around 20:00 in April, about 19:20 in late September, and near 18:50 by mid-October. On the Eden-Roc Lounge, high and open to the west and south, that hour before sunset is the best light on the property, and in April it lands later than most couples expect. This is a guest list that tends to be in its late thirties and up, the kind that settles into a long aperitif on the terrace rather than rushing the night, which is exactly the crowd a slow golden hour rewards.

The geography helps. The property runs from the hotel down the Grande Allée to the sea, so the walk from ceremony to the pool deck and the rocks below is short, and those rocks hold warm light for a few minutes after the terrace has lost it. That is the window we build the couple's portraits around, without pulling anyone away from the party.

One rule is worth knowing early. The hotel does not allow photo shoots on the grounds outside a booked event, to protect its guests' privacy, and authorisation goes through management. Your wedding coverage sits inside your event and is fine. Where to stay near Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc

The answer here is unusual: your guests stay at the venue, because the venue requires it. That is what the 20-room minimum and the 109-key buyout are.

The property has 40 rooms, 57 junior suites, 11 suites and four private villas. The villas take 7 to 18 guests each: Les Cèdres, Eleana, Sainte-Anne, and La Guettière, the most recent. Villa les Cèdres is the one folded into the buyout's 109 keys, which makes it the natural room for immediate family. The Eden-Roc Suite, above the sea with its own terrace, is the one couples usually ask about for the wedding night.

Overflow is straightforward. Cap d'Antibes, Juan-les-Pins and Antibes itself are minutes away by car, and Cannes is roughly 20 minutes along the coast, so guests outside your block have real options. Confirm the drive time with the concierge for your date, because the coast road in season does not behave like a map.

For a couple who wants an intimate, polished day in a setting with this much history, and who is comfortable with the budget, little on the coast compares. For a big, open-ended party on a tighter budget, it is the wrong fit, and that is worth knowing before you enquire.
