Weddings on this coast are sold in several formats, and the format moves the total more than the address does. Some venues quote a package built around a dinner, with rooms on site included. Others hire out the site alone, and catering, rooms and production sit on top. The entry point is lower than this coast's reputation suggests, and the venues that reach it are rarely the names on the usual lists. Higher up, whole private estates come into range. Many of the best places here are never advertised. Those are the ones we share, with the price we have seen and the date we checked it.
The French Riviera runs from the Var, west of Saint-Tropez, east to the Italian border. Most weddings held on it happen within an hour of Nice airport, which is why couples choose this coast over anywhere else in France: a guest list arriving from 4 countries lands in one afternoon, and nobody spends the first day in a car.
What separates one property from the next is not the view, because most of them have the sea. It is whether the place keeps running as a hotel around you, whether your guests sleep on site, and what time the music has to stop. Those 3 answers move the budget further than the address does.

French Riviera wedding packages, and what moves the budget
The word package means something specific here, and not what it means in the Caribbean. It is a per-person rate built around a dinner, tied to a minimum number of rooms or a minimum hire length. It sells a guaranteed minimum, not a budget formula.
2 kinds of venue sell it differently. A hotel keeps its own kitchen, always, and on this coast that kitchen often holds a Michelin star, so catering is not a line you negotiate away. It will also ask you to take a block of rooms. An estate or a villa hires you the site instead: you bring your own caterer, and in most cases nobody sleeps on the property.
Read the minimum hire length before you read the price, because it moves the budget and the shape of the weekend at the same time. 3 days inside one property gives a wedding that holds together and asks nothing of your guests. Spreading it along the coast gives a different weekend entirely: a morning at the market, a welcome party on a catamaran, the ceremony somewhere else again. Neither is better, and they do not cost the same.
What sits outside a package, almost always: production and styling, flowers, guest transfers, the wet-weather plan, and any music past the hour the contract sets. Ask for the package and its exclusions in the same document.
Wedding venues in Nice
Nice is how most guests arrive, and it also has wedding venues of its own.
They are urban rather than pastoral: hotel ballrooms and rooftops instead of gardens. What the city rarely offers is the multi-day hire most destination weddings here are built on, and its noise rules are a city's rather than an estate's. Most couples who start by searching Nice end up 20 to 25 minutes east of it.
Wedding venues in Monaco
The principality comes up constantly, and the honest answer surprises people. Most weddings described as Monaco weddings happen a few minutes over the border, on the French side, because that is where the estates are.
Monaco itself is the top of the market and it prices like it. Its venues are 5-star hotels and reception rooms rather than estates, and a full wedding there rarely works below 400,000€, for a short guest list at that. It is one of the most prestigious addresses in the world, and the wedding follows the address.
Choosing between the two is a logistical decision rather than an aesthetic one. An estate on the coast gives you gardens and limited beds. A Monaco room gives you seated capacity and no outdoors.
Symbolic wedding ceremonies, and the legal marriage at home
Almost every wedding on this coast is a symbolic wedding ceremony. Most couples marry legally at home a few months ahead, with a small reception for close family, and keep the big day for here.
A French civil marriage requires a residency link to the commune, and nobody flying in for a long weekend has one. Rules do change, so confirm your own case with the mairie and your consulate.
Choosing a French Riviera wedding planner
The wedding industry is more complicated than it looks, and the mistakes are expensive. What decides the outcome is the budget: a real number set early, then held to as the quotes arrive.
Planners differ from one another more than their websites suggest, and the thing worth testing is whether they can hold a budget of your size. Having already worked in your venue is not the point, and asking for it narrows the field for no reason. Agreeing on the wedding you want, and putting the money where it counts, is the point.
One piece of advice we give as photographers: choose a planner from the same league as the venue you are aiming at. If a portfolio shows properties well below it, that is a signal, and it is kinder to everyone to look elsewhere. The saving on the fee is the smallest number in the file.

The best months for a French Riviera wedding

May to September, early September best of all
May to September is the season, and the coast is at its best in early September. French schools go back at the start of the month, the hotels empty, and the weather holds well past the first week. It is the month we would pick.
May asks for a second thought. Evenings are still cool, the rain risk is higher in some years, and the sea is too cold to swim.
2 dates fill hotels across the region and push up what guests pay to travel: the Cannes Film Festival, 11 to 22 May 2027, and the Monaco Grand Prix, 4 to 6 June 2027. Neither is a reason to move a wedding. Both are a reason to book guest rooms early.
October stays mild on the coast until about the middle of the month. Days and evenings are cooler after that, the rain risk is real, and dinner needs an indoor plan. Some hotels also keep high summer for their own guests, so check the table before you fix a month.
Getting to the French Riviera
Nice airport is the way in, and many guests fly straight there. The rest usually come through Paris, where the onward flight takes about 90 minutes and the train nearer 6 hours.
Guests are here the day before, often 2 days before, which takes the pressure off the journey itself. Italy is a few minutes past Menton by car, so guests can add days to the trip without a second flight.

Common questions about weddings on the French Riviera
Lower than most lists suggest. Venue hire on this coast starts around 20,000€, and a whole wedding around 85,000€, at properties that are rarely the names you already know. Most of the estates and palaces, though, are let as a full buyout rather than by the evening, so the property is yours for several days. At that level, once catering, rooms, flowers and production are counted, a wedding starts around 250,000€.
For the venue alone, yes. The Bastide du Roy at Antibes opens at around that level, though it covers the site and nothing else, so catering, rooms, flowers and production all sit on top. If the budget has to hold, look at Provence instead: it has far more estates, and generally at lower rates than this coast.
There are, mostly 5-star hotels and reception rooms, the Salle des Étoiles and the Yacht Club de Monaco among them. Most weddings called Monaco weddings happen minutes over the French border, where the estates are, with the guest rooms kept in the principality. Book around the Grand Prix, which fills Monaco and the coast either side of it.
One of you has to be Monegasque, or to have lived in the principality for more than a month when the banns are published. A couple arriving for the week cannot marry there. What happens instead: the legal marriage at home, a symbolic ceremony minutes over the French border, and the rooms in Monaco.
